I don't watch many Avs games, but despite Liles' offense being above average for a defensemen, wasn't his D lacking majorly at times?

The rest of our defensemen aren't that good on D either though. I wouldn't be that mad about it if we got more than a 2nd round pick.

we will have to wait and see what they are planning... i truly doubt the aves front office would give liles away like that unless they have a replacement for him

I hate to say it, but I think the team is content with staying just above the salary floor.

I have no clue what this team is doing anymore. I don't think the owner cares about the Avs and is only looking out for the Nuggets. Trading a possible top 5 pick for an goalie that can't stay healthy is one of the dumbest things I've seen. I expect them to move back to Canada within the next 5 years.

You will LOVE Varley. He will be an elite goalie within 3 years. Washington will regret trading him so cheaply as soon as this year.

I actually like the move. He's young and on his way up. Giguere will be a good mentor for him. I think it was a pretty good first day of FA.

still have calmed down yet? at first like many the trade looks awful, but really it isnt as bad as it looks. alot of people wanted to trade no.11 + for bernier/schneider and i believe varly can and will be as good as they are, sherman and co believe that the team is ready to make a push and this is a really good deal if they make the playoffs, but anything less wont cut it for me but i believe the team can do it. now with 2 GOOD NHL goalies, more forward depth and everyone healthy again this team will make the playoffs. remember at december we were just a few points behind vancouver and i believe the team has immensely improved

That is true. It just seems that this team is willing to contend as long as they stay around the cap floor.
