    The Official Trade Ideas Thread

ALL things trade related should go here, and be discussed here. Somethings don't need their own thread, like repetitive Reyes threads about trading him or keeping him. So things like that will go here from now on.

Sorry YS, but this is kid stuff. I forget sometimes you're a teenager. This is trading baseball cards.....Somewhat humorous, so I'll leave now....

So you would rather have trade Reyes/Wright threads and other dumb threads like that? Better have one place for it, its not like this is the only forum that has this kind of stuff.

Do you really think the posters who are angry/naive/young enough to start a "TRADE SO-AND-SO!!!!" thread are going to pay attention to this? I can tell you from sloshing through the junk in the Knicks forum that they won't. So instead of just ignoring those ugly threads, we'll have those ugly threads and a sticky promoting it.

    Just sayin'.

    I agree with RR.

With that said, I think it's kind of ridiculous to ponder any fantasy trades. We won't know until they happen because there are far too many intangibles. I trust in Sandy enough to know that if this team is close to contention come the deadline(meaning within 5 games or so, not 7 to 10) that we'll be buyers. He has been very blunt about everything thus far.

However, Reyes is probably the first to go and I'll be distraught once is happens(if)--it's expected, but I can't bring myself to see Reyes wearing another uniform. He's the player who got me excited to watch the Mets when he was first called up and I've been following since 2003-4 on an almost everyday basis.

Teams I see Reyes most likely going to: San Francisco Giants, Boston Red Sox
A little bit of a long shot, but still possible: Tampa Bay Rays(If in contention)--Detroit Tigers
Way out of left field: New York Yankees

IMHO, I think that Reyes will be the last to go, if he goes at all. Sandy will weigh the benefits of a Reyes trade before anything happens. Do not forget, if we don't trade Jose, and then lose him to free agency, we (the Mets) will get 2 picks for him in the amateur draft. So, I would think that someone would need to blow the Mets away in order to get Reyes. Rest assured that the amateur draft players will be analyzed, and that the return has to be greater than what can be gotten in the draft. Also, the season is still young so you don't really have a gauge on Reyes for the full year. I believe Jose will be kept for the year unless a real gem is given back in return.

While it is true you do get picks, you also have to pay the signing bonus.
A trade on the other hand, gets you prospects closer to the majors without shelling the up front money.

Just trying to give the pros and cons of the given situation.

Every year we have a thread like this where most proposals get made and if guys make other threads suggesting trades guess what? They get merged with this thread.

If you do not like it, then guess what you can choose to not hit the link and let those who might want to participate go ahead and do so. From now on all negative comments regarding why you hate this thread will be deleted.

Participate if you want, if you don't, feel free to move on to the next thread.

I think our biggest trade priority is K-Rod. We don't want his option to vest, and good closer can net a nice prospect when traded to a team that needs that extra piece.

We saw it last season with the Capps to Minny for Ramos trade. Maybe we can get something nice for K-Rod.

Yeah, look at Feliz getting hurt now, teams will always need pen help and a closer, so am sure the Mets can deal him and get something of value unless they do a Wagner.
