One of the all time greats...Dog Day Afternoon is one of my favorite flicks. I hope he didn't suffer to much and at least he lived a long life.

I was pretty upset when I heard about this. Someone at work casually mentioned it and I thought he was kidding.

I just finished reading one of Lumet's books as well. The guy really was a leader and not a follower. His films were pure quality for the most part. Dog Day Afternoon was amazing and ahead of its time in terms of socio-political implications. 12 Angry Men needs no introduction. And 'Before the Devil Knows You're Dead' was so late in his career but still great.

The guy was so good at his craft.
