NEW YORK -- New York Islanders right winger Michael Grabner, Buffalo Sabres right winger Drew Stafford and Phoenix Coyotes goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov have been named the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the week ending Feb. 13.

Grabner was named First Star for leading the league with eight goals and nine points while posting a plus-7 rating. He capped the week by notching his first career hat trick, including the overtime winner, in Sunday's 7-6 victory over Buffalo.

The 23-year-old Austrian now has 24 goals this season, tying him with San Jose's Logan Couture for the lead among NHL rookies. He also is riding a five-game goal streak, which is the longest by an Islanders rookie since Patrick Flatley lit the lamp in six straight games in November 1984.

    ^canadian teams don't count.
if they did they'd win the cup ever once in a while right?

but yes he did last april. he's the first rookie to get 2 hat tricks in 2 separate seasons with 2 different teams.

So JT got more assists but Grabner's already passed his goal mark...
and everyone made such a big deal outta Tavares and I didn't know who this Grabner kid was until he scored like 10 goals in a row... whats the deal?
where'd we get Grabner from anyways?

He came from Buffalo, where he dominated the AHL. He led the AHL in goals last season actually, and was an all-star. He says said over and over again, that his long term plan is to play in the KHL. I can't see him being in the NHL in three seasons. Love him while he's here.

No offense... but what the hell are you talking about? grabners austrian, he was drafted by vancouver then traded to florida for keith ballard, was forst round pick in 06 pr 05, and was waived by florida before the season, and im pretty sure hes never had any affiliation with the khl...

I really think youre confusing grabner with someone else.. someone i cant think of. Grabner has absolutely no affiliation with the khl or the sabres...

Kmo is right about Grabner's background, so I am also confused about whom you may be speaking ...
