90s: Best player since Michael Jordan?

We're back in the 1990s. Who has the potential of becoming next biggest star? I'm not talking about legacy and all that, a question purely based on talent.

And players drafted from 1993, given his first retirement, until the 1998 draft as the question is for the 90s. So simply put, the question is, who is the most talented player - in the 90s - since Michael Jordan?

    Candidates:
    Penny Hardaway
    Grant Hill
    Jason Kidd
    Kevin Garnett
    Allen Iverson
    Kobe Bryant
    Stephon Marbury
    Tim Duncan
    Tracy McGrady
    Vince Carter

I'm between Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway and T-Mac. My gut is telling me Grant Hill but my mind says T-Mac.

    Tmac

If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.

90s: Best player since Michael Jordan?

    Best player- Duncan

Most looked to to have a 'Jordan' effect- TMac, but Kobe passed him handily

Grant Hill and Penny. Marbury is rightfully in there imo. Guy was as potent as one player can be.

Marbury? Please. Terrible in the playoffs. Lousy defender. Not even one of the 150 best of all time. Get the Listerene.

6/27/09: “We expect [Rondo] to play by the rules and be a leader as a point guard. We need him to be more of a leader,” Ainge said. “There were just a couple situations where he was late this year, I don’t know if he was sitting in his car, but showed up late and the rest of the team was there. We have team rules and you have to be on time. He was fined for being late, he said he was stuck in traffic, and it’s just unacceptable.”

I took Hill. He was incredible gifted and able to mold his game to what was needed of him from the jump. It's probably Timmy though. He been great from day 1. T-Mac is next on my list. His length, athleticism, scoring ability, and play making ability were really something special

I think you guys are sleeping on Kevin Garnett. In his prime, he was arguably better than Tim Duncan. This dude was hands down a beast from every part of the game. I'd have to go with KG over T-Mac. I wanted to put Kobe but his prime was not better than T-Mac or Garnett.

I find the OP (and therefore the Poll) more than a little confusing.
I voted re: "Best Player Since MJ".
But then I read the OP which de-clarified things for me.
Part of my confusion is the "Peak Question". I voted before I thought about this factor (it's NOT the only factor). Another part of my confusion is Shaq.

In any event, it comes down to these four for me:
    Kobe
    Duncan
    KG
and (I don't know why he's not mentioned???)
    Shaq.

All-Time I've got Kobe, Shaq and Duncan all from #6 - #10; and KG about 13-15.

I voted Kobe; but I would NOT really get upset over Duncan or Shaq (who are both very close); AND I know a quite decent case can be made for KG in comparison to those 3.

What's so confusing about the Shaq exclusion? Pretty straight forward why not include him.

    Hey NYKalltheway,
IF the question was, "Who is the most talented player since Michael Jordan?" (These words all appear in this order in your above sentence). The answer would have to be between:
    Shaq
    Kobe
    Duncan
    Garnett
    Kidd
    Nash
and perhaps one or two others from your Poll list.

On the other hand, the Poll itself says, "90s: Best Player since Michael Jordan".
For having only 5 words and a number, this could hardly be more confusing.
Are you asking "Who in the 90s was the best after MJ? Obviously NOT. But then why is the number "90s:" in the Poll question?
You basically list virtually all realistic candidates (taking into account "homers" of every team) EXCEPT SHAQ.
But (virtually) everybody on your poll list of candidates played at least a year while MJ was still playing. So, again, why leave out Shaq.

Perhaps the facts that despite this poll being around for 4 months:
    1) Only 12 people voted; and, prior to your comment just now:
    2) Only 13 posts were made.
    3) Usually people participate heavily on such topics.
Perhaps this indicates that your Poll and OP were NOT clear enough?

Permit me to end this post by saying,
I was/am NOT making fun of your poll and/or OP; I am NOT opposed comparing any and all of these players; in fact, I love these type of topics. Given this, I would hope that you would understand that I have NO negative feelings towards: you, your poll, your OP, nor towards any of your posts.

    Thanx sincerely,
    Pablo
