This is what I'm hearing about Palin:
Q: Why should Palin be demonized?
A: Because she says stuff that we disagree with and we think is stupid! She deserves it!
Q: Who says she deserves it?
A: We do! She's an idiot!
Q: How is she an idiot?
A: She says stupid stuff that we don't like hearing, and we disagree with! We also hate violent rhetoric, and she uses a lot of it!
Q: Hasn't politics used "violent rhetoric" aka "war metaphors" throughout its history?
A: Yeah, but Palin's doing it, and she's a moron! We hate her!
Which sounds a lot like...
SHE'S A WITCH!!!
Q: How do you know she is a witch?
A: She looks like one!
THEY dressed me up like this.
Q: Did you dress her up like this?
A: No! No.....no.... Yes. A bit. She has got a wart. We did do the nose, and the hat, but she's a witch!
Q: What makes you think she's a witch?
A: She turned me into a newt!
Honestly, can we move on? Is it possible to just ignore Palin if you don't want to hear her? I can't stand anything Howard Dean says, and I think that guy's a raging lunatic who's said a number of ignorant and incorrect things in his past, but I don't go demonizing the guy every chance I get. Same goes for Harry Reid. Just ignore it, and move on.

Unintelligent public representative....THAT is the cause of my hatred for her. To be fair, it goes beyond her and extends to plenty more politicians. I despise that bloodline, money and connections control our political candidates while genius mensa members and nobel prize winners are writing books in universities.
I also despise the fact that people like Palin have come to demonize a word like "intellectual". Scary times when we're not only bashing the dumb, but the intelligent. Is mediocrity the goal of our education?.....crap I'm rambling again....NEED COFFEE....

They call her stupid and call her an idiot and that she says stupid stuff.
You say that Dean is a raging lunatic and says ignorant things.
Im not hearing anything different. I could easily switch the names and they could fill in accurately for people's descriptions of both.

^ Are you intentionally trying to miss the point? Calling someone stupid is not demonizing them. Doesn't matter who's doing it to who.
I'm more talking about a statement like this:
Again, go back & re-read my Q&A post. What I'm hearing as the answer to why this is, the answer is because Palin is stupid. The demonization isn't calling her stupid, it's everything that goes far beyond that, and it's all justified because Palin apparently says things they think are stupid & that they disagree with. It's quite amazing to me that the demonizers all feel perfectly justified in that regard.Originally Posted by cabernetluver

Why can't people who dislike either one just ignore either one, and move on? If she comes up and you can't help but call her stupid each & every time she comes up, just leave it at that. Turn the channel, do whatever you have to do. What good is there going to come for your side by engaging in demonization?

So calling someone stupid is ok?
Also the why you are claiming to hear it doesnt mean that is the only way it is being said. For instance, i could claim that i think Sarah Palin is "stupid" because she thinks that if her and McCain had been elected they would be protected by the "Department of Law". But it is ok that i call her that if i back it up correct?

Just re-read my Q&A post. Read it enough times to get it, because you haven't yet.

You are right i have no clue what you are talking about. One the one hand you say it isnt acceptable to justify demonization by saying someone is stupid (a point i agree with) but then you work in a bit about Howard Dean being a lunatic. Those two thoughts do not mesh in the slightest. The only way that it could is that you have other preconceived notions about Dean that factor into that thought that dont necessarily come into view to need justification or mentioning. I think you are glazing over the critics of Sarah Palin feeling, too, that their critiques of Sarah Palain do not feel they need to state their critiques of her.

All I was saying was that I'm not going out & demonizing Dean simply because I think he's a raging lunatic. I was attempting to illustrate that simply thinking that someone is stupid or a lunatic is not grounds to justify demonization.Originally Posted by dbroncos78087
For now, I'll take your word that you agree and look forward to seeing you repeating that thinking someone is stupid is not an excuse for demonizing that person the next time Palin is being demonized.

Honestly, i agree with your point, but i felt it was muted by the comment about Dean. I honestly believe that when people discuss this stuff they assume that people know more about what they are thinking than they really do.
That is what i was trying to get explained. I get the point and i do apologize for the heated tone.
