Believe me, you are not alone in that sentiment. The most sickening thing I heard was he was considered the Nucks' Conn Smythe favorite before Game 3 happened. I said it after they knocked out the Hawks, that Luongo is going to have a lucky run against teams that haven't figured him out. I had hoped Boston did just that, by putting up 8 and 4 in back to back games, the ladder of which resulted in an early hook. I think the difference was Vigneault sticking with Luongo after 2 bad ones, opposed to going to Schneider like he did against the Hawks. Luongo is a mental midget, so when AV showed some faith he pulls a gem out like last night.

No way you don't remember picking up that particular puck. If that puck is lying somewhere mixed with other meaningless pucks it would be a shame, but I think it will surface eventually.

It would save the Blackhawks about 3.5Mil in cap space as well.

I hate that they are in the division...but it could make sense.
I highly doubt they are on campbell's list of 8 teams tho

    Yes and No.

A lot of times a player will pick teams that they don't believe would make a trade for the player, to block the team in a sense.

Campbell could easily put Phoenix on there knowing that there is no way in hell they will trade for him and his contract with their current position. Maybe he would put the central division teams on there thinking the Blackhawks wouldn't trade him within the division.

Crazier things have happened, but you are right he probably doesn't have Columbus on a top 8 team he would go to.

You would remember picking up that puck. It was the game winning goal to win the Stanley Cup it doesn't matter who you are. But if you picked it up you wouldn't just forget about it and throw it in a bucket because you forgot you had it

It is always great to see such high profile guys giving back, especially when they are young guys like Kaner. Instead of another thread I think bumping this one might be best.

In talking to Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane about his game you never get the feeling he’s faking it. There are more honest assessments than usual clichés, and while he’s known as a fun guy off the ice, he takes his job seriously.

“For me personally I want to make the next step as a player and try to become one of the elite players in the NHL,” Kane said on the one year anniversary of his biggest goal of his life in Game 6 of the 2010 Stanley Cup finals. “Some might say maybe I’m there already, but myself, personally, I feel I can be way better and do even more.”

It’s Kane’s tone that convinces you as well as his love of the game. He would rather be playing right now, but he plans on taking full advantage of the extra time off this summer to prepare for next season. It might be the longest summer he’ll get over the next few years.

“It’s a nice break for us,” Kane said. “For a lot of us. We haven’t had this break in a while. It’s something we can really use to our advantage. I think a lot of us will come back hungry next year especially seeing how close we were this year. Game 7 against Vancouver and now they are in the finals. We could have been there again, and we feel like we could have had a better year.”

The Hawks almost pulled off the historic comeback, losing Game 7 in overtime after dropping the first three games of the series and then winning the next three in their first round series.

“When we get in those pressure situations there is no quit in our team,” Kane said. “All of us want to advance as far as we can. It’s a pretty special group of guys, especially the core guys. I think it’s going to be like that for a while.”

Kane was talking from Montreal where he took a one day trip to get his “equipment ready” for next season. Other than that, he’s been laying low in Buffalo.

“I’m over at my parent’s home every day,” he said. “We’re going to take a trip to Universal later this month, but I’m getting ready as well. I’ve been on the ice six to seven times. I made this trip to Montreal to get my equipment figured out. I’ve been working out for a couple weeks.”

At his end of season press conference Kane said it was a good thing he, and even the fans, weren’t satisfied with him being a point per game (73 points in 73 games) player. He wants more.

“I know how fans feel,” Kane said. “It’s time for me to make the next step. I feel that way, too. This year I really want to make the next step."

Kane has talked in the past about reaching 100 points, but with the busy schedule he’s endured over the past couple seasons this might be his best chance at it. He should be rested and ready.

“Last summer was so busy with the celebration and all the events,” Kane said. “We did all those appearances and then the next thing you know you have a month until the season starts. This year will be different.”

The Hawks are hoping so as well.

What is a realistic next step for Kaner? Obviously with his body I don't think he will ever be a physical presence on the defensive end. Bulking up to achieve that may rob him of some of his offensive skill. But, I think that is where he can show the most improvement.

If he shoots more, the sky is the limit! Even his assists will go up if he shoots more, rebound goals count as assists, too. Less fancy, more pantsing.

Two seasons ago Kane's wrister was his asset, this past season he relied on his passing. I'd like to see those two even out.

Agreed 100%. Nothing bad ever happened from putting a low hard shot on net. It could go off a defenders stick, shinpad, create a frenzy, get lucky and go in, or create a nice juicy rebound.

Illya Kovalchuk puts up a real good amount of assists every year, and it isn't because he looks to pass. He gets a lot of those assists from putting a hard shot on net, Kane should definitely take notice.

If Kane starts to shoot more it will also open up the passing lane more. All of a sudden the defense will have to play him a little bit harder because they know he will shoot...and then the passing lanes will open up.

Great to see him doing things like this, definately better than his classic drunk facebook pictures.

On a side note, anyone else find it humorous that the kids are draped in Nordique and Whaler shirts and half of them are almost taller than Kaner? LOL

Very cool story, definitely nice to see the media covering Kaner in a good scenario.

Three Hawks prospects named to USA National Junior Evaluation Camp
Hope they make it (and stay healthy better than Morin did). They could all use the experience, and have already had experience playing for winning NCAA teams. I'm a little more excited about Johns than Holl at this point, but mostly because Johns has already been given a top pairing role at ND, and seems to have some leadership/character intangibles.

They're all around 6'2", so it'd be nice to see them assert their size a bit.

I think Jenner is a very realistic possibility for us at this point in the process. Rattie is another option, and is ranked higher on the NHL article than I've seen before.
