Tonight the Panthers will take on one of the top teams in the league in the New York Islanders. Florida, coming off a bad 4-1 loss to the Dallas Stars, looks to get back on the path they were on before that game when they had won two straight without conceding a goal. Expect to see Tomas Vokoun between the pipes again tonight. He should be opposed by Rick DiPietro. The Islanders are off to a hot start, going 4-1-2 which is good for 10 points and second in the conference. Early season wins are huge for any team and the Panthers want to get back on the winning end of things if they don't want to dig themselves an early season hole in the standings (they're currently in 14th place). The Panthers will need to put the Stars game behind them and get back to how they were playing prior to that loss, particularly in the 6-0 win against the Lightning last week where they were clearly the better team. If they can put together another effort like that tonight they should wrap up this three game home stretch with a 2-1 record. The game starts at 7 PM tonight. Post anything game related here.
I think Peter DeBoer underestimates this team. The Islanders nearly tied the game up in the last few minutes of the third period because the Panthers sat back and tried to play defense. They aren't that good defensively to just sit back and protect a lead, they need to relieve the pressure on the d by getting the puck into the offensive zone and establishing some pressure of their own.
