For those interested, please make a choice now because it will affect planning going forward. I will be leaving the country from December 27th to January 10th. No I didn't finally piss Obama off enough to have to flee, just going to Costa Rica. Anyways, if you want me to run it, then it will have to wait. In the meantime though, please do some research into possible outlets for us to run this. The two I have mentioned, MarketWatch and CNBC's system are fine but if you have other ones in mind such as iHub then we can do that too. But once we have a few ideas there will be a poll to decide which one we use.
Start this at the 1st of the year and have someone who isn't me run it.
or
Start this on the 15th of January and I will run it.
Member of the Owlluminati!
Id rather just start the 15th but i'm new at all of this and really don't have any kind of informed opinion on what the right or wrong decisions are.
Whatever the consensus decides is fine with me.
I would definitely like to join in on this. Sounds like the cat's pajamas to me and it could teach me quite a few things.
I'd be willing to give this a shot as well.
When can I sign up for this? I love stock market games. Keeps us all well informed and can be quite competitive !!![]()
PM for my contact information.
I'm creating one on MarketWatch.com...Will start the 16th but anyone can sign up now

Here's a much better contest. Get a group of ten of you guys, and see if the combined ten of you can pick ten stocks each and beat the performance of the S&P 500. I bet not.
Think about it. Portfolio theory holds that you should diversify your portfolio to attain 30 stocks that mirror the market. The numbers bear this out, that over time, picking stocks will not beat the market to any statistically significant degree. Nobody in finance challenges it. In other words, if you pick a stock or two here and there, instead of building a market mirroring portfolio, you really just gamble.
