Wandering around the internet, looking for any fresh packer news I could stumble into, I found an article by some guy named Zinski that was talking with Greg Jennings and was told that he much preferred Brett Favre to that guy they have now. He also defended Ponder saying that Ponder didn't have the same opportunity as Rodgers, to sit behind an elite starting QB and learn from him. Overall that part is true, not that Favre went out of his way to help Rodgers in any way, but he was able to watch and learn. There were 2 things that bothered me about the article. The 1st that Jennings would pick Favre over Rodgers, but the thing that really bothered me, was this Zinski guy making Packer fans sound like a bunch of senseless, rabid dogs. He made it sound like we had all tweeted Jennings with racist hate mail and death threats.
I for one still like Greg Jennings. He made a poor decision, signing with Minnesota and perhaps another poor decision picking Favre over Rodgers, but you won't see me throwing out my Jennings jersey. I'm sure there are a few Packer fans out there, that didn't take the Jennings betrayal as well as I did, but overall, most of us aren't wishing for Cancer or a car accident. Most of us just feel that his impact won't be that great on a team that doesn't have a QB that can get him the ball down field.
This Zinski guy on the other hand, perhaps a little misfortune for him, wouldn't be such a bad thing. How can he perceive the greatest fans in the world in that way? I guess it might bother him, that our team could start out the season 0 - 3 and the stadium will still be packed and the rest of us will still be glued to our TV sets on Sunday. I guess he doesn't understand what its like to have a football team that you can support year round, when football life in Minnesota typically ends sometime in December or earlier. Our team plays out doors at Lambeau field, so fair weather fan is not something that we understand or do we care to. Maybe someone should invite him to Green Bay so that he can see what a real professional football team looks like and what being a Packer fan is all about.
