Again, sorry for the late update but here's this week's new rankings:

Rankings updated: 10/18. Lots of changes. Federer took back the #2 ranking. Djokovic fell to #3. Murray gained 1000 points. Roddick entered the top 10. Davydenko lost about 1000 points to completely fall out of the top 10. Lots of movement at the bottom of the top 10. One thing to keep an eye on is who finishes in the top 8 for the year end ATP World Tour Finals. Right now, the top 4 have qualified. The last 3 spots are close. Who gets it?

Also, in the race for the #2 spot (thanks to Gibby for providing this)

Discuss. Nadal has clinched the year end #1 ranking but do you think Federer finishes behind Djokovic (now that would be crazy)? Who qualifies for the year end ATP World Tour Finals?

I'll try to remember to update this every time a new rankings comes out, which is every Monday but I'm not sure if I'll remember. So if I forget, someone else can update this.

Women's rankings also updated as of 10/18. No real changes other then a few people gaining and losing a couple points. No significant amount though.

Yeah, pretty much to keep track of Wozniacki.

Weird that Clijsters went down despite beating Zvonereva in the finals.

Roger didn't play at Shanghai last year so he has a great shot to pass Novak since he has no points to protect.

Kim is easily the bet womens player. She is amazing to watch. She comes back and right away dominates again.

As much as I don't like Federer, it feels odd seeing him not in the top 2. I hope by this time next year Caroline is number 1 among women.

What I don't understand is how did she fall behind Zvonerava after beating her?

I don't really get the point of having to protect points, it seems to punish good players

BTW, Roddick is right outside the top 10 with 3180 points. I wonder if he'll qualify for the year end tourney

Same way they do it but without having to protect your points. Each tournament is different, you can't expect to have the same results each year IMO

Also he has got out early in paris and Djoko won so fed can gain alot of points and djoko can lose alot.

She hasnt won anything other than US open so i wouldnt say she is the best. she needs to win atleast another major and lets not forget about serena's dominance (eventhough i hate her)

I think rankings are good the way they are. Reason why Clijisters fell doesnt have do with her performance. She maintained all her points by defending the US Open but Zvonareva gain points because she went from 4th round in 2009 to Finals in 2010.

This ranking is good. becuase is bases a players performance over 12 months. i dont see how it hurts the top players like someone else mentioned.
