which barry zito would you rather have

given his track record of being a slow starter (having bad first halves, but finishing with really good second halves of the season), would you rather have the old zito of bad first half/good second half or the zito of this year who started off strong, but so far hasnt been as good in the second half.

of course, with the playoffs just within reach, many people would say the old zito, but without him doing what he did in the first half, would the giants be in the position they are in?

im kinda torn which one i would rather have if i had to choose (i'd rather he have good first and second halves, but he is what he is)..i guess it would all depend on the other starters, but i would rather have the old zito who finishes strong just because of the experience he has..especially with lincecum having a bad august, the old zito would've been able to balance that by having a good august..plus, finishing strong, i think, is more important than starting off good.

Wins in September are no more important than wins in April, so it really doesn't matter too much.

zito was actually pretty damn good this year in his first 5 or 6 starts in the 2nd half.

IIRC he had like a 1.5 ERA in the 5 games after ASB and the Giants manage to score him a total of 2 runz.

the one where we waived him while he was hot and some team claimed him and his huge contract where he does this on another team!

Let's keep this in perspective. Zito was robbed of wins several times this year, he's actually been overall impressive. He had some real good stuff for a chunk of the 2nd half but has no run support and wins to show for it.

2nd half Zito so if we reach the playoffs he could actually pitch well

    I'd rather have 2002 Zito.

this is what i mean about momentum..if he finishes the season strong, it could carry into the playoffs and win when it really counts

This. I still feel Zito has been very solid this year.

I'm surprised nobody said this yet.
    None. No Barry Zito.
Although he has been more than great for us this year.
