Because he's still leading or very close to the top among rookies in WAR/wOBA/OPS/OPS+ and several other statistical categories. Sanchez and Stanton are behind both Heyward and Posey in all of those categories by the way.

However, removing all bias, Jaime Garcia probably deserves the award.

Honarable Mention: David Freese could have been mentioned in the ROY discussion if he had remained healthy.
LOL at no mention of ike davis. the guy has just as many homers as heyward. and his average is at .250 bc of a terrible slump. but he was at .270 most of the season. he has insane power in the biggest field in the majors. he is already a gold glove caliber first baseman. and he has 4 walk off hits.

Logan Morrison should get some love. He does not have enough At Bats to win but still:

    .314/.425/.487/.912, 143 OPS+,

Not a bad rookie year for a kid playing for the first time in the outfield.

    Hmmm, far better year?

    Sanchez has a 2.5 WAR
    Davis has a 2.8 WAR

.....so how is Sanchez having a far better year?

sanchez is also 3.5 years older than ike

he's been a better hitter (.355 wOBA to ike's .345) but ike's phenomenal defense has to be considered as well.

Creed: I thought you were gay.
Jim: Then why would you want to set me up with your daughter?
    Creed: I don't know.

OPS+ has Ike at 112 and Sanchez at 114, so offensively Sanchez has been a tad better, on defense Ike is a beast.

you can't say sanchez is a lot better than davis when sanchez has a .810 OPS to davis' .800 OPS

and like sick said, on defense is a no contest ... ike will be a future gold glover.

checking the numbers again yes I am wrong about that.

But for Defense I would say that Sanchez has been a very good defensive player at 1st base for us this year.

btw Stanton hit another 2 jacks. He makes a very nice company of players with 20 homeruns at 20 years old. Kid is going to be a monster.
