The Nashville Predators announced Monday that they have signed defenseman Ryan Parent to a two-year, $1.85 million contract.
The 23-year old Parent will make $850,000 in 2010-11 and $1 million in 2011-12.
The Preds acquired Parent this past June from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for the first rights to sign unrestricted defenceman Dan Hamhuis. It is Parent's second tour of duty with the Predators organization after being drafted by the team 18th overall in the 2005 NHL Entry draft.
Parent had one goal and two assists in 48 games for the Flyers last season. He also suited up for 17 of Philadelphia's playoff games, scoring once.
The Sioux Lookout, Ontario native twice helped Canada capture gold at the 2006 and 2007 IIHF World Junior Championships.
