Texas joins Pac-10, will announce officially on Tuesday

According to a tweet by Chip Brown, a writer for Orangebloods.com a University of Texas fan site, Texas will join the Pac-10 and will make a formal announcement after its regent meeting on Tuesday of next week.

Colorado was the 1st Big-12 team to bolt thus creating a trickling effect that changed the entire college football landscape for years to come. Then reports today showed that Nebraska will leave the conference, but will not join the Pac-10 but will perhaps form a new Big-12 conference with the current Big-10 conference.

Texas announcement is the final nail in the coffin, signaling an end to its current conference. We expect other teams to follow such as Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State, thus creating a super conference, possibly called the “Pac-16”.

If all of this realignment occurs as expected, we are predicting that the Pac-16 will become the new powerhouse conference thus supplanting the SEC.

i'm interested to see how the SEC and ACC respond to this, more so the SEC. there are already rumors of them going after VT, UM, FSU and others

personally, i'd love for UM and FSU to be in the SEC with UF so we can all play each other every year like back in the day (i'm one of the few gator fans who will openly admit spurrier pussed out of the UM-UF yearly rivalry cause he couldn't beat them... which sucks).

A&M is split on joining the SEC and the PAC 10 at the moment. I'm sure if they get a contract to play UT every year, then they'll go to the SEC.

I think it's safe to say that this is the beginning of the end for the Big XII.

I don't think so.... Looking back I think they used the whole situation to strong arm the Big 12 into giving them a better deal.
