Tom Cruise will play Les Grossman in a LEADING ROLE!

Foul-mouthed producer Les Grossman is going to be a star.

Tom Cruise 's hairy, hip-hop dancing mogul character, who first appeared in 2008's "Tropic Thunder" and made a return by "producing" Sunday night's MTV Movie Awards, will be the focus of a new Paramount film, the studio announced to Access Hollywood.

"Les Grossman's life story is an inspiring tale of the classic human struggle to achieve greatness against all odds," Ben Stiller , who starred in, co-wrote and directed "Tropic Thunder," said in a statement. "I am honored to be working with him."

Tom will produce the film along with Ben and his Red Hour Films cohort Stuart Cornfeld after having "secured the life rights to Grossman," Paramount's announcement joked.

This excites me. Easily the best thing Cruise has done in YEARS.

I didn't get the appeal of his role (or Tropic Thunder in general), but I do like Tom Cruise.

Hell, I almost think Knight and Day might not be terrible. Almost.

I thought about naming myself after a murderer. Just kidding. Who would ever do that?

Tom Cruise has been awful for a while now so I don't really care much. I did think he was funny in Tropic Thunder, but kind of character is only good in a supporting role IMO. As the lead he'll probably just be too over the top and annoying.

I'm a fan of Cruise especially his older work but I'm not eager to see this or Knight and Day.

A featured role? Not going to be funny in the least. He was only funny because his character was such a douchebag and randomly popped up. An entire movie of that ****'ll be awful.

My thoughts too. He was awesome in Tropic Thunder because it was sparse. Too much of him would be ehhhhhhh.

Exactly what you two said. I already thought it got old by the end of Tropic Thunder. The MTV awards I didn't care, but a whole 90-120 minute movie of this will be awful.

The character is funny in a supporting role not a lead.

I'm not a fan of Cruise but I thought he was hilarious as Les Grossman. Can't really see him in a leading role as that character but if the trailer looks good I'll see it.
