    Leo/Matt Damon/Marky Mark- The Departed
Michael Cera - Superbad - I feel this needs to be justified and can only say that I don't think anyone else could have made me feel nearly as uncomfortable as he did while watching that movie.
Kevin Spacey - Life of David Gale/The Usual Suspects
    Ray Liotta - Goodfellas

Is it just me or was Jack Nicholson the only person who put together an above-average performance in The Departed?

The movie is one of my top 3 of all-time, but I just didn't see any overwhemling performances.

I'd also like to add Kevin Spacey in American Beauty.

No time to post a real list, but how has nobody mentioned Jack Nicholson as Jake Gittes in Chinatown? Easily his best work, in my opinion.

Roberto Benigni in La vita e bella (Life is beautiful).

The way his character made light of such a terrible situation, all for the happiness of his little boy, really amazed me.

Dude, Ed Norton was awesome in Primal Fear.

I'm still saddened that nobody's mentioned or even acknowledged my mention of Nic Cage in Leaving Las Vegas. It was an amazing performance.

not to knock pesci's performance, but that movie would've still kicked *** regardless of his role. the pacing in that film is spot on, which makes the movie flow seamlessly. on top of that, scorcese knocked it outta the park with his directing.

I think Jack was the worse thing about that movie to be honest. Leo absolutely blew me away.

Haven't read the thread but if it hasn't been mentioned then you guys are insane.

Gary Oldman as Norman Stansfield in The Professional

I watch that movie over and over again yet his performance never gets old.

Also another performance that I really enjoyed was Dustin Hoffman in Kramer vs Kramer.

Gotta agree with that, its the only pick here I think I agree with.

Thats not to say you are all wrong (Cause you're not, this is a thread of opinions) im just a movie snob and don't really find that many great performances in mainstream movies.

My vote goes to Phillip Seymour Hoffman in Love Liza.
Son, you just don't get it, i'm talking bout TWTW!
