DeNiro in Taxi Driver is up there in my eyes and so is Ranging Bull.
Daniel Day Lewis in My Left Foot and There will be Blood.
    Michael Douglas in Wall Street.
    Sean Penn in Mystic River.
    Denzel in Training Day.
    Heath Ledger in TDK.
    Javier Bardem in NCFOM.
Forrest Whitaker in The Last King of Scottland.
    Gene Hackman in Unforgiven.
Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs.
Not a bad list at all

The thing about Brando in the Godfather is that his performance is so iconic that it's almost become underrated. I mean everyone knows its great, but it's appeared in so many parodies, from Animaniacs to the Simpsons to Brando himself parodying it in The Freshman that it's lost some of its impact.

And it shouldn't. Cuz its amazing.

Old Boy is one of the few movies with a "twist" ending that you can watch more than 10 times. It's in my top 10, as well. Bruce and Sam knocked it out of the park in Unbreakable. I have no idea why it's so underrated.

Brando's performance in The Freshman is nothing to scoff at, either. He even out-parodies everyone else. Truly Iconic.
