Best performance you have ever seen in a movie

For me it has to be Daniel Day Lewis in "My Left Foot". That had to be the most unreal and amazing performance ever. Some others to note as well would be Tom Cruise in "Born On The 4th Of July", Dustin Hoffman in "Rainman", Meryl Streep in "Sophie's Choice", Leonardo Dicaprio in a few roles such as "Catch me If You Can" and "Gangs Of New York." What does everyone else think?

Eh. I don't like to say there is an absolute best.

But I will mention one that nobody probably will. John Cazale. Played Fredo in The Godfather. That's one of my favorite performances, from an actor that doesn't really get a lot of credit for how good he was.

I love this list. I haven't seen My Left Foot, Catch Me If You Can or King of New York and don't think Brandon Lee belongs here, but this is a superb list. My favorite is DDL in There Will Be Blood.

    I'd also like to add:

    -Gary Oldman- Leon (The Professional)
-Javier Bardem- No Country For Old Men

My top three in order are:

    DDL- There Will Be Blood
    Nic Cage- Leaving Las Vegas
    Heath Ledger- TDK

Cage was absolutely brilliant and I'm having a hard time keeping him at number two after putting thought into this.
    I'm In.

That would be Daniel Day Lewis who is an awesome actor. I haven't seen There Will Be Blood or much of his other stuff, but that would be one on my list.

    In no order:
    Al Pacino - Godfather I & II
    Heath Ledger - TDK
DDL - Gangs of New York
    Tom Hanks - Forrest Gump
Brad Pitt and Ed Norton - Fight Club

That's just a few of them off the top of my head
New York Rangers - Atlanta Braves - New York Giants - Kobe Bryant

Honestly the only reason I had Brandon Lee was for sentimental reasons. He really is more of an honorable mention for me.
