At first all I kept hearing was how Reyes had health issues and growing pains like FMart when he was young, but it's getting to a point where we can't even see what we have in FMart because of his inability to stay on the field. It's really disappointing. Havens is the same way. If these guys stay healthy they can be HUGE pieces to the Mets in the future, but they can't and it sucks.
    Props to MetsLegacy

Dom and for me it's not even close. I just can't see F-Mart being anything in the majors just due to health. I used to think Pavano was bad, but jeeze.

    Brown stats:

I'm not sure where I could find a great scouting report on either player, so maybe someone could help out and post that

F-Mart has such a nice line drive swing. I think if he changed his style to be more of a gap hitter for now he'd be in the BIGS much sooner. The power he has will come along naturally.

If I was a GM who was trading Player X to either the Mets or Phillies, and I had to choose between Brown and FMart in return, I just can't pull the trigger for FMart... not when I can have a consistently healthy Brown. I like Brown more anyway, but purely based on health concerns I just couldn't pull the trigger for FMart.

I honestly cannot believe this question had the legs it did. For me there is no comparison. Brown is a year younger than Martinez. Look at their stats in AAA this year. I do not think that anyone who is in the business of compiling prospect lists has Martinez in the top 100 any longer. Brown is number 1 on most, top 3 on all that I have seen from mid-season rankings. Having said that -- I still hold out hope that Martinez can become a league-average outfielder. The kid has had to deal with so much bad luck on the injury front it is unbelievable.

Brown is an absolute monster. 5 tools, all of them are legit. Martinez hasn't impressed me in his limited time.
    Suck it

A year ago this question might have been closer. At this point, even if Fernando had never been injured, and was 100% healthy over the last year, it still wouldn't be that close. As it is, Fernando now, in the equivalent of 4 full seasons in the minors, has averaged 81 games per season.

    I don't think he's even a top 150 guy at this point.

There is no knowing what he could have done if he was healthy.

He needs to get healthy and start progressing more.

Hes also a year younger and has been playing mostly 1-2 levels ahead of brown for years.

This has nothing to do with Dom Brown. I don't want to start a new F-Mart thread but in his second PA of the season he hit an absolute Moon Shot off of Bud Norris in a clutch pinch hit at bat.

FMart followed that up going 1-4 with a long double against JA Happ. It looked like it had a chance to make it over the wall. The kid definitely can rake.
