    True, the triceps are obviously bigger than your biceps, but that doesnt mean that they are a big muscle, they just arent. It doesnt take a whole lot to beat them up.


    As for building optimal mass for the triceps, Compound exercises rule. Pushdowns and machines are really not giong to be the best option.

    IMO, the best exercises for the triceps are:

    BB/DB Bench
    Board Presses
    Close grip BB Bench (flat/incline)
    Floor Presses (DB/BB)
    Weighted Dips
    Tate presses


    Also, skull crushers are a terrible exercise IMO if you are experiencing elbow pain, they put a ton of stress on the elbow joint and should really only be used if you have nice healthy elbows with good form.

    So I would just throw out all of the isolation work for your triceps and just use DB's and BB's for a while making sure you have good form. It is easier to have pain in your elbows diong isolation exercises.

    It would help out a lot if you could post your entire routine.

    Take some fish oil pills for better joints.

    Also make sure you stretch throughly before working out. If you do this and you still feel pain, stretch between work outs until the pain dies down.

    Fish oil pills are definitely helpful, I take between 4k and 6k mgs per day. Stretching is always a good thing, but in his case he has a bad elbow, not sure if stretching will help that but stretching will definitely tell him what his limitations are if he's going to workout the region around the elbow.
