Les Canadien stunned Hab faithful with 9-7-1 December capped by a strong 6-1-0 road trip (kinda, Montreal fans seem to dominate every crowd). The team has 45 points and the games in hand other Eastern teams have are "must wins," which won't happen. Our guys are sitting OK.
Best game: December 4 Centennial against Boston. Dominating show and the ghosts took over. Never mind we're 2-0-0 against Boston (party like it's 2007-08, eh BooBoo?).
Best player: Markov. Our team is 6-1-0 since his return.
Stir the Pot: Price was great in Tampa, Halak was not in Miami.
Missing: Does Dags have blackmail info on someone? Why is he getting ice time?
Just Waive Him: BGL...
January has 13 games, seven in the Bell Centre and there is a five day break between January 9 against the Devils and the Dallas game on the 14th. Three sets of back-to-back games with the Habs running between New York City twice and the Tampa-Miami run. Key two games sets with Rangers, Devils, and Smells Like Corndogs. With the vast improvement since Markov's return, why not look for 18 points this month?
Yesterday opened FA talks and I pray Gainey looked at his payroll and decided to start talks with Plec and Bergeron. Also, I expect the trade wire to heat up as some team in this league has to make the first step and pull the trigger. St. Louis is about a week from cashing out for 2009 and they may be the team that we deal with. Edmonton needs to do something as well.
