Did the Lions make the right pick?

When the Lions chose Matt Stafford with the 1st pick in the NFL draft, some people said it was a good pick and others said it was an awful pick. The people who said it was an awful pick seemed to be right at the beginning of the season when Mark Sanchez was clearly outplaying Stafford. But now I am looking at their stats and Staffords seem the same as, if not better than, Sanchezs stats.

    Stafford: 190 of 351 for 54.1%
    Sanchez: 158 of 297 for 53.2%

Stafford: 2,124 yards passing for 6.1 yards per a pass
Sanchez: 2,049 yards passing for 6.9 yards per a pass

    Stafford: 12 TD's and 18 int's with a long of 75 yards
    Sanchez: 11 TD's and 17 int's with a long of 53 yards

Stafford: 17 carries for 110 yards and 2 TD's with no fumbles
    Sanchez: 29 carries for 97 yards and 3 TD's with 2 fumbles

Also, keep in mind that Stafford has played 3 less games than Sanchez and Sanchez has, in most peoples opinions, a better supporting cast.

So did the Lions make the right pick?

way too early to tell. Both Sanchez and Stafford are playing like rookies.

Gotta see how they grow. Both of them have the raw skills though

ask again in 2 years. stafford went to the worst team in the history of the NFL and his best weapon has been banged up all year. Sanchez walked into rediculous expectations that got even more rediculous when he played well the first few games. i think they can both become winning quarterbacks in the NFL, but we'll have to wait and see.

I voted "no other" for the very reason that we have no idea.

    They should've drafted Aaron Curry.

Stafford was the right pick. He has all they need to have a great career. As the Lions continue to build through the draft, he will only get better.

I think the Lions are finally going to start turning their franchise around with Stafford. Right after their 50 year curse comes to an end.
    I'm done.

I honestly believe Jason Smith will be better than both of them but right now there is no way you could possibly tell.

x2 You can't make an evaluation on 12 games lol. Especially when the last 2 games he has been injured and has struggled.

IMO Stafford is better than Sanchez, it's just a shame he went to the Lions. He has been injured 3 times already, mainly because the Lions aweful oline. The Lions have the same problem every year. They rarely win the battle in the trenches. Manning, Brees, Favre, and Brady would struggle with the Lions.

I do wonder though if Stafford looked so good at Georgia because he had Moreno and Massequi (WR for Browns) to make him look good.

Too early right now but for some reason I just have this feeling that Mark Sanchez is going to be something out of this world in this league.

both stafford and sanchez were solid picks IMO

i know it was against the browns, but i was really impressed with how stafford came into the game after hurting his shoulder and throw that GW TD.

    gotta respect that.
