It has been confirmed that there will be a new arenafootball league, it will be called Arena Football 1. It will begin play in 2010 around late March early April. It will start with a minimum of 16 teams in its first year.

Thats a horrible name and they are starting with too many teams. I guess they need a lot of people in a lot of markets to care but I think quality tops quantity. Extra football is never bad, specially for people who fall through the cracks and then becomes stars in the NFL.
If they are smart they will take 18 year old stars that can not declare for the NFL and can't make money in college. Thats what I would do. Of coarse if you were to go that route you might as well play on a full length field but it is what it is.

I like Arena Football. Not sure why they put the 1 at the end but I'm guessing it has to do with being associated with AF2 that survived after the original league ceased playing.

The AFL auctioned off all of their assets, but AF1 bought the largest share. So essentially it will be a lot of the same.
