imagine if we resign Lackey and Kazmir, Santana, Saunders return to 2008 for and Weaver returns to 1st half form. that would be like have 5 aces

    Lackey
    Kazmir
    Weaver
    Santana
    Saunders

i know its just ifs but i think its very possible because Kazmir, Santana, and Saunders are all coming of injurys and have pitched well lately (Saunders only 1 game).

"We're very excited about the player that we can't name yet, but also about the other two," Rays manager Joe Maddon said. "The lefty has a great arm, and Sweeney is one of the best hitters in the minors."

OK, that makes me think it's someone on the 40 man roster. They'll get him next year so he won't have to clear waivers and get blocked, like the Yanks are trying to do the red sox.

Reagins 2nd year and he is 2 for 2 in trades. He got us a bat last year in Tex and got a good pitcher this year when we badly needed it.

Good thing too because Bell can shelled for 5 runs in 2 innings again, and an ERA of 10+. I guess this is an upgrade afterall.

This to me smells like a long term investment, not something to make the 2009 team a lot better. He's sucked this year, so you've got to face that.

The fact is, he's got an electric arm when healthy, and he's a lefty. Plus he's young. He's a good pickup for the future.

    from espn:

    • With an eye toward the playoffs, the Angels had to know that Kazmir is 4-0 with a 2.92 ERA against the Red Sox and Yankees this season. He's 2-0 against each but 4-7 with a 6.78 ERA against the rest of the league.

nice pick up. if he's our intended no.4-3 starter, we wont be disappointed. but i dont project any kazmir of old to come back. his name's bigger than his game.

Saunders isn't ace material, and wasn't ace material last year either. He's a classic case of a guy getting really lucky one season, and his luck running out the next.
