Not only does Smoak have better potential, judging by his success at a higher level I would also say he has a better chance to fulfill his potential. Usually players with good plate discipline like Smoak are safe bets to become impact hitters, although nothing is ever guaranteed.

A .723 OPS at AAA is not success. I already posted what they both did at AA and it was basically identical production. Smoak has yet to show success at a higher level.

Smoak also played his time in AAA with an oblique injury, which is know to snap players power production. If you have doubts about his pop in his bat, lets not forget the show he put on in the baseball World Cup.

I like Ike Davis, but he is not even close to being in the same class as Smoak. Smoak is going to be a top 10-15 prospect while Davis looks to be in the back half of the top 50.

Never disputed that, but I pointed out that their on field success at the same levels has been quite equal.

We all know that Smoak is a top 10 prospect and Davis is not, but does that mean that Smoak will be the better player for sure?

    only time will tell.

If Ike Davis has another consistent year like the one he put up last year... he could very well see himself in the top 20, top 30 list... Possibly even higher

    Daivs... 3-22-87
    Smoak.. 12-5-86

Yet Smoak is in AAA and Davis in AA. I am not sure your point is besides the fact that you are a Mets fan. Davis has all the marks to be a solid everyday 1B as a ceiling. Smoak right now projects to be that as a midpoint.

LOL so they are born 3 moths apart and.....

Smoak has played at AAA half a year, lets not act like he is 3 years younger and has been AAA for a whole year already.

They basically played at AA at the same age.

    Well that's just plain untrue.
Loose seal. Watch out for loose seal.

I don't care about Lucille. She lies.
