Smoak is looking more and more like a career minor leaguer.

Ike has been much better over the past month and a half than he was in the beginning of the season.

Yeah, I can tell. On June 30th his OBP was at .278, today it's all the way up to .276. Oh wait, no he still blows.

On June 8th he was hitting .158/.234/.273, and now he's up to .207/.276/.400. It's a huge difference. Smoak has never even shown flashes of not sucking.

Our sucky first baseman got hot for a few weeks at one point too, and then it went away just like it did for Davis. If you're really going to split hairs over which Mendoza-liner is worse you can have the victory man. Ike Davis rules! Dingers!

    lulz

    From Jun 6, 2012 to Jul 20, 2012 (today) he's putting up a split .275/.346/.583 for an .OPS of a paltry .929.

    nothing has went away

Oh, okay. So the past 20 days mean nothing? He got hot for a month. He's been horrible again for three weeks. Three of the four months of the season including the current one he's had an OBP below .265. Smoak brought his OPS all the way up above .700 early in June because his hot streak ran from May 11th to Jun 10th. Then he went straight back to suckville, exactly as Davis did when June ended. Davis happens to be a couple weeks later in his pattern, but he has yet to break .700 OPS this season.

They both suck. Don't tell me Davis is still hot when he's been bad for three weeks. I'm happy to give Davis the edge because he's been hitting a few more doubles, but other than that they're near identical.

To be honest I wasn't aware of his bad stretch the past few weeks, I'll concede that. It just seemed to me that he's been doing better. Example of my eyes lying to me.

I just don't think that a poor year up to this point takes away what he did the past two seasons (granted one of it was injury shortened). 25 years old and a career .334 wOBA even with a brutal year so far. Far better than what Smoak has done to this point (sub .300 wOBA).

    GO METS!

19 Inning game...and the Pirates get ROBBED! Jerry Meals should get FIRED! And then just work for the Braves. What a shame for baseball.

at least ike is still hitting for power. the fact that he could still end up with 25-30 homeruns and 80 RBIs is a great result considering how horrible he was. i wonder what his stat line would be if he hadn't gotten hurt last year after a scortching hot start

Ike Davis for sure, but mostly because Smoak sucks. Davis is showing a lot of power though.

Smoak blows, Ike blows a little less.
