    Goalie Situation (Corey Schneider)

What do you guys think about bringing up Corey Schneider up next year?? We obviously know luongo will be our #1 goalie and take the bulk of the playing time. Knowing that would you want Schneid as our backup goalie next year or would you want him in the AHL playing as much as possible? Would you guys like to see Labarbera back? Barb did play pretty good in Luongo's absence, though it may be a little difficult to resign him.

Maybe we can bring schneid up and let him play more games to take some pressure off and give some extra rest to luongo?

    Thoughts???

Tough call. Schneider needs to play in order to develop, so it makes sense for him to be in the minors. However he also needs to play against NHL calibre players. He won't get many games playing behind Luuu.

I think they may try to re-sign LaBarbera.

i agree with that. Barbs is probably our choice. If something were to happen to Luongo this year or Labarbera, then we can call up Schneid.

It's a good thread though. Schneider really needs the challenge of NHL shooters and game situations. Being a goalie prospect on Luongo's team must suck for him.

yeah, what it does make him though, is good trade bait. We could probably get something valuable for him if we were to dangle him on the trade market.

Also, sanford would be another possibility to be backup again... I mean we can't just relax and rely on lu to be healthy all year. It is a pretty big deal to have a reliable backup.
