Better question: why is Rose the starting point in only one of those scenarios?

Because in the other situations he would have needed to be traded to get either Roy, Wade or Melo.

The reason I put Roy, Wade and Melo in the situations is because they are all around Bosh's age which will be 26 next season. Roy and Melo are 25 and Wade 27. So I figured that would give Chicago the best opportunities to win. Whereas Rose will be 21.

Probably the 4th with just adding Bosh (Just because I think rose will be an outstanding player).
But outside of that, the Wade one is pretty sick.

Why? He'd still be in a rookie contract when those players can get signed, and he'd have bird rights at the end of his rookie contract anyway.

I'm more or less looking at the results with the team based on age of the players, etc not so much the salary.

I don't think adding just Bosh is enough, they have depth issues and right now two of their better players (Rose, Hinrich) play the same position. Deng may or may not come back healthy, Gordon may not resign, Brad Miller is a year or two from being done, etc. Losing Rose to get quality at another position would be worth it.

I'm still wondering why the Bulls would trade Derrick Rose. He's their best player and a cornerstone for their franchise's future.
    Favourite Teams:

Boston Red Sox: 49-62, games this week vs. Cardinals (3), Angels (3)
Indianapolis Colts: Good draft and off-season so far.
Looking for new NBA team to cheer for
Ottawa Senators: 37-31-14, season over, free agency begins this week.

If they got Wade they would trash Rose for Bosh to build a contender

Why would they get Wade. It's even from the basketball standpoint, but from business stand point. Everyone in Chicago loves this kid, he's from Chicago, he is the hero. He ain't leaving no matter what.

Wade and Bosh would be the best.

I mean, Wade is a superstar and he can carry a team throughout the playoffs. Chris Bosh is the ideal 2nd option. Versatile on offense, and his defense has improved.

Wade has shooters around him like Hinrich, Salmons, Bosh, so there'll be plenty of spacing to drive.

    Scenario 1 is the best.
