They said they had no Consensus number 3 choice.

Also looks Hanson fall league performance really helped.

    33 ANDREW
    McCUTCHEN OF, PIRATES
1: International League center fielders with a higher OPS than McCutchen's .770 (Brett Gardner, .836).
Anyone else see anything wrong with that statement. 1 CF had an OPS above .770??

Nice to see Brackman getting some love.

Only 1 CF in the International League, that's 14 teams.

Overall a good list, only things a few things I see that really make me scratch my head: Escobar and Andrus too high, Vitters too low, Gorkys Hernandez even being listed is stupid, and Brackman really shouldn't be on the list, that's just a joke. Seriously, Brackman hasn't thrown a minor league inning, is coming off surgery, and was a mess just before he was drafted. I know he has great upside, but he hasn't shown anything in nearly 2 years.

Porcello was too low IMO. His strikeout rates were a little lower then that of Trevor Cahill but not enough to merit him being ranked 10 spots lower. This year of prospects seems a bit strange, I have yet to find a really solid list I like, this is definitely the best one but it has it's share of flaws IMO. Oh well I guess everyone has their own opinion.

They did mention in the chat I think that those 10 places really aren't that big a deal and in fact both Porcello and Cahill are quite comparable in terms of talent level.

Here's the exact question and response in fact:
    Q: Brian from NYC asks:
I don't get ranking Porcello 11 spots behind Cahill. Sure, Cahill has a nice sinker and has posted results a level above Porcello, but Porcello's stuff is another cut above, and he seems just as close to the big leagues as Cahill.
    A:
John Manuel: You can make that case; I'd say 10 spots isn't that much of a difference actually, they're quite comparable. I would give Cahill points for the strikeout rate and also being more athletic and showing the ability to make adjustments.
Loose seal. Watch out for loose seal.

I think Brackman is another example of BA going out of their way to try and be 'ahead of the curve', they're obviously hoping Brackman comes back with his 80 fastball and 80 curve so they can sit there looking smug saying "we ranked him all along, how good are we?", or maybe that's just the cynical side of me speaking.

Ok, so the other 12 had sub-.770 OPS, that is surprising to me

Yeah, something's up there for sure. I know this might sound homerish, but take Vitters for example. Based on pure talent, he's definitely top 30, maybe top 20. But they punished him because he had some injuries early this year, and only dominated in short season ball instead of the MWL. But then, on the flipside, they have Brackman, who hasn't been "that guy" since like March or April of 07, and he somehow gets into the top 100? This is either yet another example of Yankee bias *coughcoughIanKennedycoughcough* or like you said them trying to look all smart.

Yeah, I read that but 10 spots between the 20th and 10th prospects is a hell of a lot different then say 10 spots between the 100th and 90th prospects.

Majority of their list is based purely on potential, so why would you rank him so much lower when his potential is just as good as Cahill's if not better and he performed very good as well last year, just didn't have a good strikout rate. It just seems that a lot of their list isn't consistent.

So bowden goes goldstein's rating(31) to 83 in BA's rankings. Interesting
