Yzerman sure gave us a lot of great moments and memories. I'm so lucky that Mr SBC got his hands on those tickets ... and he's not even a Red Wings fan!
The Yzerman for Yashin trade almost happened, Stevie had his bags packed for Ottawa. Thank God it didn't.

Exactly. Detroit would not have been the same without Stevie Y.

    And, welcome to the site!

Perhaps it was a different rumor, but the one i distinctly remember that Bowman was trying to pull the trigger on was Yzerman for defenseman Stanislav Neckar. (good lord!)

It was Yzerman for Yaashin. In 1993 or 94 I believe. What would they be now if they did?

Well, at least we (as hockey fans) all won SOMETHING out of game 7:

Game 7 is most-watched NHL game in 36 years
    Jun 15, 6:09 pm EDT

NEW YORK (AP)—Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals is the most-watched NHL game in 36 years.

The Pittsburgh Penguins’ championship-clinching 2-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings on NBC on Friday night averaged 8 million viewers. The network said Monday that’s the most since Game 6 of the 1973 Stanley Cup finals between Montreal and Chicago.

Game 7 earned a 4.3 rating and 8 share. It was the highest rating for a series-ending game since Game 7 of the 2003 Anaheim-New Jersey series.

The rating is the percentage of all homes with televisions tuned into a program, while the share is the percentage of all TVs in use at the time.

    So ... soccer question.

Are they going to start showing EPL on ESPN now? And, if they've already started, what have I missed??

Yeah ESPN or ESPN2 are gonna show some EPL games. I watched Manchester United this morning on ESPN2, Im not sure if it was the first game they showed though. Soccer is on the rise in the USA.

It's about time. I never really understood why it didn't catch on in the US. Probably because the best players in the world already played on the Euro clubs and those rivalries were already established.
