I want to know why Citrus is a Red Wings fan. Why not one of the teams where you have roots? Or did you live in Detroit?

My grandfather was a huge Red Wings fan and we would watch games together whenever they were on; mind you, this was the 1980s. I lived in Santa Cruz, which is just south of San Jose, but this was before the Sharks were a team.

And, the first NHL game I went to was the Red Wings vs. the San Jose Sharks. Now, the Sharks hold a special place in my heart -- they are my hometown team -- but, I will always be a Red Wings fan first and foremost.

I've also only been to one game in Detroit at JLA -- the night they retired Steve Yzerman's number.

And no, ink, I live in Iowa.

And that's pretty impressive that you got to see Stevie Y's jersey retired at the Joe Louis Arena.

Yea, not too interesting. Loved my grandpa and he loved his Wings. Seemed only natural.

And, the retirement ceremony was great -- definitely brought a few tears to my eyes. And, to think, in the early 90's I remember people saying that the Wings should trade him for Alexei Yashin! Yzerman sure gave us a lot of great moments and memories. I'm so lucky that Mr SBC got his hands on those tickets ... and he's not even a Red Wings fan!
