they dropped to 23rd in rushing yards per game, and 29th in yards per carry.
they were 3rd and 7th last year in those categories.

yeah but it is very subjective to what you consider a blown assignment.
how does the observer know exactly what guy was supposed to be where?

You do know Willie Parker missed a handful of games and that Mendenhall missed 3/4's of the season right? You can't blame the lost of Faneca alone for the poor run game.

i was actually going to mention that and forgot.
i know the whole difference isnt because of Faneca.
but lets not pretend he wasnt great and a big difference

he is a guard. pass protection is more of a secondary skill, and i know he isnt as bad as you make him sound.
He has had QBs who hold onto the ball way too long, which might appear to make his pass blocking worse than it is.

I also think Guards get too many sacks assigned to them. Sacks from blitzes up the middle are often considered the guards responsibility for a stat like this. When in reality, the blocking scheme may have assigned the RB, C, FB, or nobody to block the blitzer

not a very telling stat. a tackle will get the blame for a sack even if a running back or TE misses a block on his side. then you have qb's that hold the ball or just have poor pocket presence. i'm just not to concerned with where my teams guys show up on this stat.
