Wasn't sure where to post this, but here is as good a place as any, I guess. Did anyone see Chris Webber's impression of Chauncey Billups? It was really hilarious, and I hope someone youtubes it, so if anyone catches it, post it por favor.

The importance of great defense in the playoffs

This is a Nuggets-o-centric highlight mix from game 5 of the Nugs-Hornets series:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5TbXoFgDc0

But what I'd like to call your attention to is the footage of the defensive plays, and especially Kenyon Martin's lockdown defense. A lot of people have posted reactions of shock about how badly New Orleans got beat in this series. I think this is a pretty good illustration of how deflating it is to get smothered by the opposing defense, and how that can take a team's effort out of their game.

I realize those were just highlights so you only saw the good things the Nuggets did in that game...but damn, they looked impressive. I love the defense and the execution on offense. JR Smith still shoots those long 3's, but he seems to be much more in control on offense and has a new dedication to defense. This team can go far if they keep it up. I think that makes 18 wins in the last 22 games for the Nuggets, including their record in the playoffs so far.

Yeah, of course, the bad was not shown. But to tell you the truth, there really wasn't too much from that game to show, and it's actually fairly indicative of how Denver generally played defense over the entire series. (And in the big blowout, there was literally only one single defensive play that I thought was bad, when they left Butler wide open on the arc. The other 47:30 was nearly flawless).

If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.
