The PSD NBA Forum Youtube and Video Thread

    --PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE POSTING!!!--

The PSD NBA Forum Youtube Thread

It's somewhat of an experiment for us to do this, so we ask you to
please use this thread with discretion and good judgment.
If people go hog wild just posting any and all NBA videos with no semblance of
order or discussion, the thread will be closed and we will not try this again.

On the other hand, if it works well, it could be a really cool thing.
    That is the dream.

    --RULES / GUIDELINES--

    1. All normal site rules apply and will be strictly enforced. That means no baiting, flaming, insults, etc. Of course, "bad play"/"blooper"/etc. videos go with the territory, but please be sure to be respectful and stay within the rules when you post.

    2. As a general rule, don't post too many videos. If this thread gets flooded with posts all at once, nobody will be able or willing to watch most of what's posted here. It will just be a mess. The simplest way to think of this might be: "A single dunk posted in a week is much better than 8 dunk mixes posted every day."

    3. Shorter and more specific is better. Mixes are not unacceptable, but they don't lend themselves to discussion, generally. So we encourage you to post clips of single plays and/or from single games. They will provide a clearer focal point for good discussion, which ultimately is what we're after. Which brings us to...

    4. Try, when possible, to actually have a point to make when posting a video. It might be helpful to think of this one as: "Scouting reports are better than highlight reels." Of course, sometimes there might just be some plays that are so amazing they need to be posted, and that of course is cool. But as a general approach to posting videos in here, try to choose material that can actually be analyzed to illustrate something about a player or team. Again, it just lends itself to better discussion.

    5. Please try to post the highest quality material you can. As you know, sometimes there are 3 or more youtubes of the same play out there, varying in quality. If you can take the time to post videos in here, you can take the time to figure out which video of the ones that are out there is the highest quality available.

I understand your reasoning for doing this but I dont like it. "GENERAL" threads like these get overcrowded and I know I for one gets very confused. When multiple ppl are posting multiple videos; you get lost and dont kno which comment is going where. People jsut start posting anything that looks cool. It just gets jumbled.

I rather have ppl make their own individual thread for something really cool. The thread is clear and on topic and also the video would be something truly special if people make to into its own thread.

    Just my opinion.

Okay, thanks for your opinion. As I said in the top post, it's experimental. This was discussed at some length amongst the mods, and we decided to try it. We'll see if it works well or not. If not, nothing lost. If it does, it could be cool.

But just so you know, it is partly in response to a general increase in the number of new youtube-based threads being created in the NBA forum, and somewhat of a preemptive strike against the forum getting too cluttered with them.

Finally, if you don't like it, nobody's twisting your arm and making you check it out.

Lol, yeah its cool I understand. And yeah I have noticed that there is a strike against ANYTHING that clutters the forum lol. However, when threads are filled with hundreds of posts with multiple topics it just gets a little annoying. But yeah this is cool though.

Cluttered threads are far worse than a cluttered forum.

Here is a video made by the guy who writes the Nuggets blog Roundball Mining Company. This is exactly the kind of thing I wish there were much more of out there. And if anybody knows of any video makers who do this sort of thing for other teams, please let me know.

    Anyways, here's the link:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UULINvBgFbI

This video is a scouting report on the trouble the Nuggets get themselves into by constantly switching on perimeter screens. It illustrates very clearly the flaws in this approach, and in fact I'm sure it's very similar to the sort of thing that the scouts from opposing teams prepare for the coaching staff and players in drafting up a game plan to play against Denver.

Highlight mixes can be fun and everything, but this sort of thing is about 10,000 times more interesting to me.

Sweet video. Love the song, very suitable. Listen to the last line, "I can't be who you are". If Kobe would embrace that sentiment and stop trying to be Jordan I would really like him- and if he wasn't a laker- he is an amazing player. That said, Jordan is still the far better overall basketball player. Let Kobe enter that argument when he wins DPOY and gets the scoring title in the same year. Or when he takes a team to the finals that isn't totally stacked with talent. I am a die hard Bulls fan but our first 3 championship teams were not that great- talent wise. In terms of a video game it was basically Jordan, Pippen and a bunch of low 80's and mid 70's.
When Kobe had teams like that after Shaq left they were getting put out in the first round.
Avatar- hand painted by me. Interested? Check out my other work here. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...lbumId=1007089
