Josh Howard tears ACL; waived by Minnesota T'Wolves

MINNEAPOLIS -- Just when Josh Howard appeared to be carving an important niche in the NBA for himself again after battling back from a torn ACL in his left knee, the 32-year-old forward is right back where he started.

The Timberwolves waived him Thursday after an MRI revealed a torn ACL in Howard's right knee. He was injured Friday at New Orleans. The team initially hoped he would be able to return this season, but as usual for these hard-luck Wolves, the news could not have been worse.

"I feel really bad for him," coach Rick Adelman said before the Wolves hosted the Oklahoma City Thunder. "He worked so hard to bring himself back. It's just a shock."

Unfortunate, but Minnesota is turning into the next Portland with injuries.

Likely the end of a solid career for Howard.

Howard was an all star before the knee and MULTIPLE ankle injuries. Such a shame injuries derailed a very talented player. Who knows how good this guy could've been. He was once an all star.

meh, Minny signed Roy, Kirilenko, and Howard, all know for injuries. not like we didn't see this coming, though an acl tear is extreme...

Stop signing guys with injury history out the *** Minny, please.

Roy I understand, and AK has been pretty healthy so far. (Knock on wood) Howard was just bad luck no one can predict a torn ACL.

That's his second torn ACL. Was it the same knee or the other one?

    Same knee.

I feel bad for him. That's tough.

Hopefully he saved his money, cause he may have to retire. He tore it like 3 years ago. If he was just now starting to come back from that ACL tear, who knows how long the it'll take this time.
