I know he has had some serious health problems the last few years but I think a guy like him is still worth looking at. Prior to his injuries he was one of the most dominant pitchers in the league and although his number the last 2 years have not been good, that is largely due to injury. Mulder reminds me alot of when the sox signed Wade Miller except I think Mulder has a better chance to succeeded because the sox could maybe even put him in the bullpen if he shows he can still pitch. Also, Mulder is not being actively pursued and he could be a cheap risk for the sox to take.

Agree, what's the risk? Always have to do a cost benefit analysis with this stuff... in this case, the move makes sense.

You could start him off a LR, see how he pitches then use him as a starter once one of your starters gets injured (always happens)

I think it would be a good low-risk pickup, maybe invite him to ST with a chance to win the 5th starter spot, if he accepts.

Mulder hasn't been good in years, injuries or not. I don't see him as being worth the risk.

Sometimes i wish i could pay a dollar to see what Towlie's been saying. Like most times I bet i totally agree with him here.
Maybe for a league minimum deal and no gaurantee of being in the majors. Also, no incentives because he made to much off of StLouis. If he actually wins a game this season, that team to have to something to the Cards. Same deal for Pavano!
Good for them for getting the money when they did!!! Didn't sign those contracts a day to soon!!!

Penny > Smoltz > Prior > Mulder
