Strong lighting effect:

Layer > new layer

Fill your new layer with black, then set it to color dodge

Take out a soft white brush (size can vary...however large you want to make your "lighting area") and start brushing in the spots you want to lighten.

Then gaussian blur it to your liking.

Clipping Mask
Set your text to where you want to make the clipping mask.
Duplicate the Background without the text.
Click on the text layer, and set it to "Alpha to Selection"
Then CTR X on the background layer.

This is for GIMP, I don't know how it translates into PS.

Haha, I remember how complicated clipping masks were back when I used gimp...

In Photoshop, all you have to do is make a new layer, and click the check box that says "make clipping mask"

Gimp sucks for clipping masks.

And I recommend you download dTruth's Texture pack of o2.

I dont know if anyone would be interested.

But yesterday i made my first gif animation from a vid and i enjoyed making it.
I pretty much have nothing else to do so if anyone wants a vid turned gif or such then just PM me.
