Yeah I agree with the call, but a pretty close call that is game deciding at a time like that will always be very controversial none the less.

I don't think there was much controversy about it. The people who look at these plays have numerous HD monitors with many different views. They also have as much time as thy need to look at the play in question, with things like zoom and slow motion at their complete disposal. They wouldn't overturn something unless they believed it was absolutely conclusive. Especially if it was something that would directly effect the outcome of the game.

Nash is 6 feet 4 inches. Add 3 more inches to that when he is wearing skates and he is 6 feet 7 inches. His stick was no lower than the top of his shoulders when he made the tip. Lets say that the average head/neck is about 2 feet high, which may be generous. That would make his stick at a level roughly 4 feet 7 inches. The NHL goal post crossbar sits exactly 4 feet high. The rule is, if a player is to tip a puck with his stick that would result in a goal, and the end of his stick is raised higher than the level of the crossbar, the goal would be disallowed.

Here's the math

6.4 + 0.3 = 6.7
6.7 - 2.0 = 4.7
4.7 - 4.0 = 0.7

0.7 inches above the crossbar = Illegal

wow you really went in depth for that but your math might be a bit off like his stick i dont think was at his shoulders probably lower like his chest which might still be over the crossbar anyways

There was one view that was straight on and showed the crossbar and his stick in the same picture. His stick was clearly above the crossbar.

I don't think you get what I'm trying to say here...

I saw the replays and it was also clear to me that it was high, but when is call is made with that little of time left and it is game deciding people are going to be pissed about it, thus making it controversial. I agree with the call but this is the where the whole "Let them play" and "Refs should decide games" comes into play.

I understand what you're saying, but either you want them to get the call right or you don't.
