Niklas Backstrom helped the Minnesota Wild take over the top spot in the rankings by going 3-0-0 in Week 2. The 30-year-old netminder, who was the NHL's second star last week, posted one shutout, a 1.30 goals-against average and .952 save percentage in his three starts for the Wild. In all, Backstrom turned aside 80 of the 84 shots he faced, including every attempt the Lightning fired his way in a 1-0 shootout win last Saturday in Tampa Bay.
Niklas Backstrom wasn't the only Minnesota player who went Wild in Week 2. Mikko Koivu helped the club stay undefeated by registering seven points in three games last week off one goal and six assists. The 25-year-old forward was at his best last Thursday when he posted five points for the Wild in a 6-2 win over the Florida Panthers.
