The Tampa Bay Lightning traded Jussi Jokinen to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Josef Melichar, Wade Brookbank, and a fourth round pick in the 2009 NHL entry draft.
The Lightning originally acquired Jokinen as part of the deal sending Brad Richards to Dallas last season. Jokinen has traditionally been decent offensively and is known for his ability to perform in shootouts. However, he failed to perform in Tampa Bay this season, scoring just six goals and 16 points in 46 games. Hopefully the change of scenery is just what he needs to snap out of his season-long cold streak. However, we wouldn't recommend gambling on him until after Carolina makes it clear where he fits into their roster.
