Here we are at Xcel Energy Center, watching practice. Best news of the day went to Houston Aeros trainer Jerry Meins, who gets to go home tomorrow -- just a few days late. Since the Wild decided to keep so many prospects in camp so long, Meins and equipment manager Mark Kincher, among others, extended their stay a bit late.
Next on the agenda is finding a guest for the Sid & Dave Sports Huddle tomorrow morning on WCCO Radio. I’ll line up the guest today for after practice tomorrow, and then Aaron Sickman, covering tomorrow’s pre-game skate here before flying to Buffalo, will coordinate the call-in time with producer Dave Schultz in the morning.
Also on the docket today is finding out tomorrow’s lineups for Wild.com and local media.
And here we go.
Not sure of the lines for tomorrow, as we have 22 players traveling -- 20 will play.
Forwards are ...
Brunette, Belanger, Clutterbuck, Gillies, Locke, Nolan, Veilleux, Pouliot, Jesse Schultz, Hamilton, Sheppard, Weller and Boogaard.
Defensemen are ...
Nick Schultz, Skoula, Reitz, Cuma, Noreau, Bergeron and Johnsson.
Goalies are ...
Backstrom and Harding.
Some notes from the lineup: Both cousins Nick and Jesse Schultz could be in action together. Tyler Cuma, the team’s first-round pick in June, appears poised to make his preseason NHL debut. Also, for those Toronto/Buffalo-area fans who were hoping to see Corey Locke, it appears as though your wishes will be fulfilled by Jacques Lemaire.
Interesting that Jacques and Mario Tremblay were the last two guys off the ice today, doing some one-on-ones with several players. And Colton Gillies is lined up with WCCO Radio in the morning, so our work here is just about done.
