League MVP benched by Matthews

The day after he arrived in Toronto to take the head coaching reins of the Toronto Argonauts, Don Matthews warned that reputations meant nothing when moves had to be made.

He was true to his word yesterday when he announced that quarterback Kerry Joseph, the league's most outstanding player last season and the Argo who cashes the biggest paycheque every week, was being benched for Saturday's game in Calgary.

The job now falls into the hands of Cody Pickett, the former San Francisco 49er who threw his first CFL pass late in Friday's embarrassing 39-9 loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Maybe its more of a team thing. Matthews is a winning coach he knows how to win so maybe by doing this hes letting the team know that if they're not playing good you well be benched and anybody can be replaced even the MVP.

Yeah its too fire the team up. Make them play with more emotion, and when Josepth gets in Don hopes he plays better.
