James Neal scores 2 GOals in Traverse City Prospects Tournament

James Neal scored two goals on Sunday in the Traverse City Prospects Tournament.
Neal will be battling with Ray Sawada, B.J. Crombeen, and Chris Conner throughout training camp for a spot on the Stars' opening day roster. Neal was unable to make the team last season, so this year he's focused on taking things one day at a time. "I want to enjoy my time here," Neal said. "This is a good tournament, and I think we have a chance to win it, so that's what I'm concentrating on. It's been fun." Neal had 37 points and 63 penalty minutes in 62 games with the AHL Iowa Stars last season.

James Neal scored once and added two assists to lead the Dallas Stars prospects to an 8-3 win over the Atlanta Thrashers prospects at the championship game on Wednesday.
Neal ended the tourney with four goals and nine points to lead all scorers. The 21-year-old now heads to the Stars main camp where he will battle Ray Sawada, B.J. Crombeen and Chris Conner for the final forward slot. "Neal was fantastic," Dallas co-GM Les Jackson said. "I'm excited for him. He's determined to make our team, and he played like that every shift. He just really showed he has taken the next step." Neal is unlikely to have much in the way of fantasy value this season if he makes the Stars, so we would suggest passing on him at your fantasy draft.
