Bulletin: Senators Sign Waugh To A 1-year Contract
Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray announced today the signing of defenceman Geoff Waugh to a one-year, two-way contract.
In 2007-08, Waugh appeared in 71 games for Ottawa’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators, recording six points (three goals, three assists) and 139 penalty minutes.
The 24-year-old Winnipeg native was a third-round choice (78th overall) of the Dallas Stars in the 2002 National Hockey League entry draft. His four-year collegiate career saw him miss only four regular-season games while playing for the Northern Michigan University Wildcats from 2002 to 2006, when he tallied four goals and added 34 assists in 158 career games.
Waugh’s first professional season (2006-07) saw him split time between the East Coast Hockey League’s Johnstown Chiefs and the Springfield Falcons (AHL). He made his professional debut in the Chiefs' 3-1 home loss to Cincinnati on Oct. 28, 2006.
