Panthers defenceman Mike Van Ryn says he's ready to make a full return from having surgery on both of his wrists.
Van Ryn says he feels "awesome" after being plagued by wrist injuries over the past two seasons. In 2005-06 Van Ryn scored eight goals and had 37 points (16 on the power-play) over 80 games. The next season Van Ryn played through pain and saw a dip in his production. After having surgery on both his wrists during the summer of 2007 he returned to training camp only to find out the right wrist wasn't repaired properly. After only registering two points in the first 20 games last season, Van Ryn shut it down to undergo more surgery. Now he says his right wrist has never felt better and he's ready to make a contribution to the team. As long as he stays healthy and his slapshot has the gas it had a couple of years ago, he'll likely see plenty of time on the power-play. Poolies should keep an eye on him during training camp and preseason. He could be an excellent value pick in the later rounds of your draft.
