White Sox Sign Danks 5 year, $65 Million Deal

    http://tracking.si.com/2011/12/22/re...-to-extension/
The Chicago White Sox and starting pitcher John Danks have agreed to a five-year, $65 million contract extension, according to MLB Trade Rumors. The extension comes amid rumors that Danks would be traded.

Danks, 26, went 8-12 with a 4.33 ERA in 2011 after winning 15 games with a 3.72 ERA in 2010. He was set to become a free agent after the 2012 season.

The Sox have worked out a five-year, $65 million contract extension with their left-handed starter, who they had spent the early part of the off-season offering to other teams in trades. The deal, sources tell CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman, is pending a physical exam and is expected to be announced after Christmas.

The 26-year-old Danks would have been eligible for free agency after next season, which is one reason the White Sox were so willing to move him and also why they had trouble getting what they wanted for him on the trade market. Danks, a 15-game winner in 2010, slumped to an 8-12 record and 4.33 ERA in 2011, his worst year since he was a rookie in 2007.

So that makes some random graphic designer 5 for 5 in breaking deals

Love that deal, especially considering what Wilson and Buehrle got.
He could have gotten more in FA and that deal makes him a tradeable asset if needed.

Probably their most consistent pitcher over the past couple of seasons.

He will be worth the money spent and this is coming from a Cubs fan.

He may be worth more to a team with 5 years of control at 13 mil then he was previously.

As much as we need to rebuild its hard, with 50M going to Rios, Dunn, and Peavy.

I hate this deal, not a fan of Danks, especially at 13 per.

Great deal for the ChiSox!! He's 26 and will be entering the prime of his career during the deal. The White Sox might seem a bit confused as to which direction they are going but Danks is a good top of the rotation starter to build around.

If you're rebuilding, you trade Danks. If you re-sign Danks, you're not rebuilding. If you re-sign Danks while rebuilding, you're lost.

btw. Law said that Danks would have gotten more than CJ Wilson on the open market and now he doesn't like it?
