Just 2 terms our Poopy pants President and Republicans have been using as of late when they don't get their way. Funny how they never thought this during the election of 2000 Gore vs Bush jr.

"The campaign for change" -- ok, that's a relatively new one. It's the new Obama campaign slogan that went into effect July 1.

But, I hate it. And, I'm a Democrat.

I agree with you. I also got tired of "yes we can" halfway through the first speech I heard it. And I'm an Obama supporter.

For me it would be "swiftboating" used in reference to words and actions that are so not "swiftboating".

Using "gate" as a suffix to anything that might eventually be a scandal. It's old, it's tired, and it's used about 50 times a show by the truly awful hack, Keith Olbermann

Yeah, but I wish race wouldn't matter, because it's not about one being black and one being white.

I agree that in "McCain vs. Obama" race shouldn't matter as any kind of factor that differentiates the candidates in any meaningful way (with the possible exception of how their personal backgrounds influence their world view, which in turn influences what kind of policies they pursue - to think that "better race relations" might be more on Obama's radar screen than McCain's isn't an unreasonable assumption).

But it's hard to separate that from the possibility - which would be historic - of America's first black president. For the narrative of African-Americans to go from slavery to the presidency is some powerful stuff, and you'd be hard up to find a better, more vivid example of what "the American Dream" is all about. I agree that people who vote for somebody "because he's white" or "because he's black" or "because she's a woman" are, in many cases, putting their bias and ignorance on display. But for people to factor "wanting to be part of something historic" into their voting is certainly not something I'd hold against anybody, especially if they basically share a lot of the candidate's views anyhow, and support him or her beyond that singular dimension.

I don't buy the "90% of black people are voting for Obama because he's black" BS. If Condoleeza Rice or Clarence Thomas were the Republican nominee, does anybody honestly believe they'd be enjoying the same margin of support? Come on.

conversely if JC Watts was running against John Edwards in West Virginia, I'm pretty sure Edwards would win.
