Jeter has a slightly higher average, A-Rod slugs slightly better, yet somehow, Jeter is the clutchest player ever and A-Rod is said to become the worst player in baseball. When a guy gets 119 chances, of course he'll make a couple of clutch plays, hell, even Fernando Tatis does it.
Jeter is a very good hitter, but hasn't been a great hitter or an elite hitter in a few years, and he's a terrible defender. He's not a bad player, he's even a very good player, but not the superstar people make him out to be.
