    Brooks Laich will take the Capitals to salary arbitration.
    Laich is coming off a career year in Washington, netting 21 goals and 37 points in 82 contests. Teammate Shaone Morrisonn has also filed for salary arbitration. He posted 10 points and 63 penalty minutes in 76 games for the Capitals last season.

    quick question - arbitration in hockey happens much more frequently than in the other sports. Is this the norm and thus does not hurt future contract negotiations? I know in baseball, if you go to arbitration with a player they are all but gone at the end of the contract over 'bitterness' from arbitration.

    to update this baord, ESPN is reporting they signed Laich to a 3 year, $6+ mil. deal
